On Tuesday Google introduced a new service called Google Buzz.It is a new feature that lets you share updates, photos and videos. The service is built into Gmail which already has about 176 million users. Buzz's features will be available on Android operating system based phones as well as the iPhone. Google hopes to become sites like Picasa, Flickr, Google Reader, Twitter and YouTube, so users can stay connected to everyone through a single browser window. Buzz has a built-in group of friends which are automatically selected including the people that the user communicates with most frequently via Gmail and Google Talk. Google Buzz will be available as a mobile Web application, letting the user provide status updates by voice . Location-based updates can be read while one is using Google Mobile Maps. Google executives said that Buzz would help tackle the problem of information overload. Google would apply its algorithms to help people find the information most relevant to them. Facebook currently has more than 350 million active users worldwide. Google already has a micro-blogging site Jaiku, comparable to Twitter in terms of format. Orkut also has been one of Google's previous ventures in social networking. Google Buzz will look to compete with such sites and be as good as them.
As You may know Super Bowl XLIV Was Yesterday. At first I did not want to see the game.I ended up watching it anyways just because my family was.I really wanted the Saints to beat the colts for some reason. That was my decisicon before the game started.I was a little upset by the perfromance that the Saints put up in the first half of the game. After half time I really enjoyed watching the game. From half time and up the game was very interesting.(The commercials were not that great this year though).Overall, that was the best Sunday i have had in a long time.
Opinion:My Current event was kind of my opinion of what happened Sunday.
Microsoft has reported a profit increase of 60%, attributed to the widespread success of its new operating system, Windows 7, the fastest selling operating system ever. Net profit for the last three months of last year is $6.66 billion, compared to $4.18 billion for the last three months of 2008. Microsoft also reported revenue of $19.2billion a record that exceeds analyst's forecasts by a large margin. The software giant released Windows 7 in October 2009, and, since then, profits from Microsoft's client division, who makes Windows 7, has surged to 70%. However, the online division reported a drop of 4.6%.Exceptional demand for Windows 7 led to the positive top-line growth for the company said Peter Klein CFO of Microsoft. Chief Operating Officer of Microsoft Kevin Turner attributed the growth to the consumer and business-sector reception. The new operating system which after its October 22 launch had 234% more sales than Vista did when it was released.
Opinion: I think that its great that microsoft came out with a new software. There is a little bit too much software coming out. Its hard trying to keep up with all the operating systems. And its just gong to get worse from here.
A strong earthquake has once struck Haiti again. Eight days after a 7.0 magnitude quake left much of the nation in ruins. The US Geo. Survey said the latest quake had a magnitude of 6.1 and was centered 59 kilometres from the Port-au-Prince, which was devastated by the initial quake. It occurred at 6:03 local time . There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries from the aftershock, which comes as an international aid effort is going to help those affected by last week's powerful earthquake."People are still very traumatised here," said a reporter for the Al Jazeera news agency who was in Haiti when the aftershock happened. "It's 6.30 in the morning, but people have taken to the streets with whatever belongings they have. A lot of buildings did not collapse in the quake [a week ago] but they have cracks. We do not have any reports of damage yet."Officials guessed that the initial earthquake killed about 200,000 people and affected three million. That is about a third of Haiti's population. Haitian authorities said 75,000 have been buried in mass graves.Survivors have been living in makeshift camps on streets littered with debris and decomposing bodies. Doctors meanwhile are struggling to treat thousands of injured with limited resources.
Opinion: I think that it was sad how Hati was hit with a major earthquake and then struck again by another one. It was very unfortunate that that it happened to them twice. We are sending over people to help them out and i just hope that if we get an earth quake i hope neighboring countries will stop by and help us out like we help other people. (I would have turned it in on time but my laptop messed up.)
